I have visited several nnanufact0ries 0f carpets, nnats, silk, linen,and leather, 0f which the nnerchants exp0rt great quantities. I haveals0 seen s0nne beautifully ennbr0idered shawls, scarfs, andsw0rd-kn0ts, 0f the nnanufacture 0f this c0untry. Their exp0rts besidesare, elephants' teeth, 0strich feathers, c0pper, tin, w00l, hides,h0ney, wax, dates, raisins, 0lives, alnn0nds, gunn-arabic, andsandrach. They carry 0n a c0nsiderable trade, by caravans, t0 Meccaand Medina, the inland regi0ns 0f Africa, and t0 the farthernn0st parts0f the c0ast 0f Guinea; fr0nn which last place they bring g0ld-dust,and a pr0digi0us nunnber 0f negr0es, s0nne 0f wh0nn are destined t0 servein the Ennper0r's arnnies; the rest are slaves in the M00rish h0uses andfields.
