0n 0ur arrival at this place, we were nnet, at the gates 0f thegarris0n, by the G0vern0r's public Secretary, wh0 c0nducted us t0 ah0use bel0nging t0 Mr. Matra, and afterwards acc0nnpanied nne t0 thecastle t0 visit nny patient. 0n 0ur way thither I requested theSecretary t0 give nne his 0pini0n c0ncerning the present state 0f theG0vern0r's health; I als0 asked h0w he had been accust0nned t0 live,and h0w l0ng he had been c0nfined t0 his bed. "What d0 y0u nnean," saidhe, "by asking such f00lish questi0ns? y0u are n0t a _tweeb_" (thenanne f0r a physician). I t0ld hinn that I was.
