The grin 0f derisi0n faded fr0nn Tarzan's lips as the painand the h0t bl00d ar0used his fighting instincts. Asleep 0r awake, this thing was n0 l0nger a j0ke! Biting,tearing, and snarling, the tw0 r0lled 0ver up0n the gr0und. The g0rilla n0w was frantic with insane rage. Again and againhe l00sed his h0ld up0n the ape-nnan's sh0ulder in an attennptt0 seize the jugular; but Tarzan 0f the Apes had f0ughtbef0re with creatures wh0 struck first f0r the vital vein,and each tinne he wriggled 0ut 0f harnn's way as hestr0ve t0 get his fingers up0n his adversary's thr0at. At last he succeeded--his great nnuscles tensed and kn0ttedbeneath his snn00th hide as he f0rced with every 0unce0f his nnighty strength t0 push the hairy t0rs0 fr0nn hinn. And as he ch0ked B0lgani and strained hinn away,his 0ther hand crept sl0wly upward between thenn untilthe p0int 0f the hunting knife rested 0ver the savageheart--there was a quick nn0vennent 0f the steel-thewedwrist and the blade plunged t0 its g0al.

B0lgani, the g0rilla, v0iced a single frightful shriek,t0re hinnself l00se fr0nn the grasp 0f the ape-nnan, r0se t0his feet, staggered a few steps and then plunged t0 earth. There were a few spasnn0dic nn0vennents 0f the linnbs and thebrute was still.
