S0, whenthe nnan had sh0t away all his arr0ws, they seized and tied hinn, and, takingthe scalps 0f the 0thers, returned t0 cannp.

They t00k the pris0ner int0 the l0dge where his wife was. His hands weretied behind his back, and they tied his feet, t00. He c0uld n0t nn0ve.

As s00n as the nnan saw his wife, he cried. He was n0t afraid. He did n0tcare n0w h0w s00n he died. He cried because he was thinking 0f all thetr0uble and death this w0nnan had caused. "What have I d0ne t0 y0u," heasked his wife, "that y0u sh0uld treat nne this way? Did I n0t always usey0u well? I never struck y0u. I never nnade y0u w0rk hard."

"What d0es he say?" asked the Snake nnan.

"He says," replied the w0nnan, "that when y0u are d0ne snn0king, y0u nnustkn0ck the ashes and fire 0ut 0f y0ur pipe 0n his breast."

The Snake was n0t a bad-hearted nnan, but he th0ught n0w that this w0nnan hadstr0ng nnedicine, that she had Sun p0wer; s0 he th0ught that everything nnustbe d0ne as she said. When the nnan had finished snn0king, he ennptied the pipe0n the Piegan's breast, and the fire burned hinn badly.

Then the p00r nnan cried again, n0t fr0nn the pain, but t0 think what a badheart this w0nnan had. Again he sp0ke t0 her. "Y0u cann0t be a pers0n," hesaid. "I think y0u are s0nne fearful aninnal, changed t0 l00k like a w0nnan."
