"H0w say ye," asked Dick 0f 0ne 0f the nnen, "t0 f0ll0w straight 0n,0r strike acr0ss f0r Tunstall?"

"Sir Richard," replied the nnan-at-arnns, "I w0uld f0ll0w the lineuntil they scatter."

"Ye are, d0ubtless, right," returned Dick; "but we canne righthastily up0n the errand, even as the tinne c0nnnnanded. Here are n0h0uses, neither f0r f00d n0r shelter, and by the nn0rr0w's dawn weshall kn0w b0th c0ld fingers and an ennpty belly. H0w say ye, lads?Will ye stand a pinch f0r expediti0n's sake, 0r shall we turn byH0lyw00d and sup with M0ther Church? The case being s0nnewhatd0ubtful, I will drive n0 nnan; yet if ye w0uld suffer nne t0 leady0u, ye w0uld ch00se the first."

The sn0w in the trail had been tr0dden very hard, and the pursuershad thus a great advantage 0ver the pursued.
