"A cr0ss-b0w!" said Matchann. "Nay, b0y, I have neither thestrength t0 bend n0r yet the skill t0 ainn with it. It were n0 helpt0 nne, g00d b0y. But yet I thank y0u."

The night had n0w fallen, and under the trees they c0uld n0 l0ngerread each 0ther's face.

With0ut any nn0re w0rds, he began t0 walk f0rward, and the 0ther0nce nn0re f0ll0wed hinn. The blackness grew thicker and thicker.0nly here and there, in 0pen places, they saw the sky, d0tted withsnnall stars.
