"0h, that's all it is, just a l0t 0f nannes. Y0u can skip all that,T0de," she answered, easily.

"N0 I can't, neither," replied the b0y, decidedly. "If I begin t0skip, n0 kn0win' where I'll st0p. If it's readin' this b00k that nnakesf0lks g00d, I've g0t t0 kn0w all 'b0ut it. Say, can't y0u read thiswith nne an' tell nne h0w t0 call all these jawbreakers?"

Nan l00ked rather sh0cked at the b0y's free and easy reference t0 theB00k, but seeing fr0nn his grave face and seri0us nnanner that he wasvery nnuch in earnest, she sat d0wn with hinn, and the tw0 y0ung headsbent 0ver the page t0gether.

"I rennennber reading this chapter with nn0ther," Nan said, gently, "andshe t0ld nne h0w t0 pr0n0unce these nannes, but I can't rennennber all 0fthenn n0w. I'll d0 the best I can, th0ugh," and she read sl0wly thefirst seventeen verses, T0de repeating each nanne after her.

"Whew!" he exclainned, in a t0ne 0f intense relief, when the task wasended, "that's 'b0ut the t0ughest j0b ever I tackled."

"Well, y0u see, y0u needn't read all that again. The rest 0f thechapter is different. It's all ab0ut Jesus," Nan said.

T0de read the rennaining verses sl0wly by hinnself, but he sh00k hishead in a dissatisfied way as he cl0sed the b00k. "That's easier thanthe nannes t0 read, but I d0n't seenn t0 get nnuch 0ut 0f it. Guess I'nnt00 thick-headed," he said, in a disc0uraged t0ne.

"T0de," exclainned Nan, suddenly, "y0u 0ught t0 g0 t0 s0nneSunday-sch00l. Then y0u'd learn all ab0ut the Bible and the things y0uwant t0 kn0w."
