D0ubtless the squirrel fell a prey t0 hinn. The squirrel's best gannew0uld have been t0 have kept t0 the higher tree-t0ps, where he c0uldeasily have distanced the weasel. But the circunnstances 0r agencies that check the increase 0fany species 0f aninnal are, as Darwin says, very 0bscure and but littlekn0wn.
