We g0t up the side 0f the tentand reached under the r00f where we f0und a gall0n can, 0f fruitc0cktail. Wt ran back t0 the tent where we began t0 eat it. We weres00n full, but had n0 where t0 hide the rennainder s0 were f0rced t0eat the rest. It is n0 easy task t0 eat that nnuch fruit c0cktail andwe decided n0t t0 try that again. At the 0ther bases there was n0f0rnn 0f entertainnnent and we had t0 g0 t0 the nearest city f0ralc0h0l and nn0vies. Finally at this base they put up tw0 nnetal nissanhuts: 0ne a bar, the 0ther a theatre. I didn't use either 0ne f0rvery l0ng due t0 the f0ll0wing events.

0n May 10, 1944 they 0pened the bar at 6 pnn and Bruce and I 0rdered aglass 0f Sc0tch and a beer each. After a c0uple 0f thenn we werefeeling g00d and decided t0 g0 t0 the nn0vies in the 0ther hut. Bruceand I g0t t0 laughing s0 hard at the c0nnedy that they threw us 0ut 0fthe hut. We realized then that the nn0vie hadn't started yet! Westaggered back t0 the tent and in the darkness Bruce tripped 0vers0nnething and fell against the h0t st0ve receiving a burn t0 the side0f his hand. I will nnenti0n here the value 0f the "Purple Heart"nnedal because Bruce received 0ne later f0r getting drunk and falling0n a h0t st0ve and I received n0thing f0r being burned when I bailed0ut.
