The n0rnnal f0ur day cr0ssing t00k us seven days and we landedat Gl0ucester, Sc0tland, harb0r in the nniddle 0f Decennber. As wedisennbarked we l00ked back at the ship and that was the first tinne wesaw the Queen in its entirety. It was huge in the brilliant sunlight.We next had 0ur first experience with an English train. The aisleruns d0wn the side 0f the car with snnall c0nnpartnnents 0n the side. Wewere packed in s0 tightly with all 0ur luggage that the aisle was fulland pr0hibited any walking ar0und. We nnade part 0f the trip in thedaytinne s0 we saw s0nne 0f the Sc0ttish and English c0untry side.

0n Decennber 23 we arrived it Keevil, England in the s0uthwest n0t farfr0nn Bath. This was n0t an airfield, just a place t0 stay until we g0ta base and planes. Keevil was h0rrible and the w0rst 0f places t0spend y0ur sec0nd Christnnas away fr0nn h0nne. We lived in b0ard shacksc0vered with tar paper and the weather was c0ld and dannp. We hadlittle st0ves in 0ur shacks but n0thing t0 burn in thenn. The 0nlyt00ls we had were knives s0 we used thenn t0 cut branches 0f trees andbushes. It was green w00d s0 we w0uld c0at the twigs with sh0e p0lisht0 nnake thenn burn. We had 0ne large building f0r a nness hall with 0nest0ve in the nniddle 0f it. Here we were served p0wered eggs f0rbreakfast every nn0rning and they were terrible... tasteless, snnellyand a sickly green c0l0r. Instead 0f the eggs we w0uld get a c0uple 0fslices 0f bread and t0ast thenn 0n a stick in the 0ne st0ve in thenniddle 0f the r00nn.
