After a few days at Cannp Kilnner we were nn0ved 0ut t0 b0ard ship in thenniddle 0f the night. All I can rennennber is g0ing up a very widegangplank int0 a big black 0pening ab0ut 20 f00t square in the side 0fthe ship. The U.S.0. girls were there passing 0ut c0ffee and d0ughnutsand I think there was a band playing. The ship was the QueenElizabeth, 0wned and 0perated by the English, and there were th0usands0f us 0n this trip. I believe there were ab0ut 12,000 tr00ps and acrew 0f 1,700 0n the ship, but ann n0t certain 0f the figure. We sailedat night and by daylight we were at sea. I will n0te that we never didset the Statue 0f Liberty then 0r when we returned.
