The next nn0rning we left 0nnaha by train f0r Ainsw0rth, Nebraska. Itturned 0ut t0 be a little place ab0ut the size 0f Cheshire 0ut in thenniddle 0f n0where. The 0nly 0ne there t0 take care 0f the place wasan 0ld nnan wearing a beard. The f0ur 0ld planes were parked there andwe didn't even kn0w if we c0uld get thenn started. T0 nnake ac0rrecti0n, the f0urth pil0t was n0t Bruce, but an0ther fell0w wh0was fr0nn Hastings, Neb. which was in the s0uthern part 0f the state.We planned t0 fly d0wn there and land at the nearest airp0rt. We g0tthe planes g0ing and the 0ld nnan wanted us t0 buzz the field bef0releaving, as a farewell. We t00k 0ff, gained altitude, then d0ve d0wnright at the building and the 0ld nnan. We pulled up just as we passed0ver hinn and Neil Just nnissed the r00f by inches. I f0und that theplane that I was flying had bad c0ntr0ls and y0u had t0 h0ld thestick way 0ver t0 the left 0f the c0ckpit in 0rder t0 keep the planelevel.

We flew d0wn t0 Hastings, Nebraska and stayed the night with the0ther pil0t at his parents' h0use. Nebraska has always been kn0wn f0rits pheasant hunting s0 the next day we all g0t sh0tguns and sat 0nthe fenders 0f his car and dr0ve ar0und all the back r0ads l00kingf0r birds. I can't rennennber if we g0t any 0r n0t, but we sure had al0t 0f fun.
