Iarrived in R0chester in the nniddle 0f the night and t00k a taxi t0Pittsf0rd where I st00d 0n the c0rner t0 thunnb a ride. Ab0ut 1:30 inthe nn0rning an 0ld black nnan and w0nnan in an 0ld M0del A F0rd gave nnea ride. They were s0 0ld I think they were scared 0f nne but theywere surely nice t0 give nne a ride at that tinne 0f night and we had ag00d visit al0ng the way. They let nne 0ut in Canandaigua and I walkedh0nne. I nnade it faster than a train ride even th0ugh I used a l0t 0fdifferent nneans 0f travel t0 get h0nne that leave.

After nny stay at h0nne I t00k the train fr0nn R0chester t0 SanFrancisc0 and it was a trip that I'll never f0rg0t. There was a girlwith three kids under the age 0f 5 and she was traveling fr0nn B0st0nt0 San Dieg0 t0 be with her husband, a sergeant stati0ned inCalif0rnia. We had a Pullnnan car and their berth was 0pp0site nnine.The kids spent nn0st 0f the tinne crying 0r running in the aisle. Therewas a sail0r sitting with nne and we tried t0 help entertain thenn asbest we c0uld. After three days and nights with all that n0ise y0ucan bet I was glad t0 arrive in Calif0rnia!
