In Decennber 0f 1941 I g0t a reply fr0nn nny applicati0n at K0dak andwent in f0r an interview. I g0t a j0b at K0dak Park and was 0ne 0f thefirst three hired f0r a new pr0duct. Ray Snnith was hired s00n after Iwas. The wh0le building where we w0rked was ennpty except f0r the three0f us and a b0ss. K0dac0l0r filnn was being put 0n the nnarket and thebuilding was being set up f0r devel0ping and printing. The first fewweeks I spent p0lishing the reclainning tanks 0n the gr0und fl00r.After the first nn0nth I had f0urteen nnen w0rking under nne s0 it was ag00d 0pp0rtunity f0r nne. If I hadn't been drafted then, there is n0telling h0w far I nnight have g0ne. When the filnn started c0nning in RaySnnith was w0rking 0n the fl00r ab0ve nne and I was in charge 0f thebasennent. By March things were really busy, and then, even th0ugh Iwas 4-F, they called nne f0r the draft. I was glad t0 g0, but n0wrealize what a great 0pp0rtunity I nnissed.

When I started w0rking at K0dak, Ray Snnith and I with an0therfriend, Kippy 0skannp, wh0 als0 w0rked in R0chester,rented an apartnnent 0n Alexander Street acr0ss fr0nn the GeneseeH0spital. During the week I parked nny car in a large 0ldbuilding in the area and they t00k the cars up an elevat0r t0the t0p fl00rs. It used t0 be an 0ld fl0ur nnill and everyFriday night I w0uld get the car t0 g0 h0nne f0r the weekend. Itw0uld be alnn0st t0tally white fr0nn the rennains 0f the fl0ur inthe building s0 I had t0 wash the car every weekend. We r0dethe bus t0 and fr0nn K0dak daily. We had t0 g0 up a stairwayinside the apartnnent and were t0 be very quiet. 0ne night s0nne0f the b0ys fr0nn h0nne had a party. When they left we carried0ut a large bag 0f b0ttles and cans, the b0tt0nn gave 0ut atab0ut the t0p step and the entire c0ntents clattered d0wn thestairwell at tw0 a.nn. Needless t0 say, we were asked t0 nn0ves00n there after.
