I rented a garage just ar0und the c0rner 0n Clark Street where I keptnny car. 0ne night after g0ing t0 a Saturday night dance, I put the carin the garage. The next nn0rning when I went t0 get it I n0ticed it hada flat tire. The garage fl00r was dirt and the wheels were d0wn inh0ll0ws. The sn0w had nnelted 0ff the car and all f0ur wheels werefr0zen in the ice in the h0ll0ws. It was such a narr0w garage I had t0back the car 0ut t0 change the tire. It was fr0zen s0 s0lid I had t0get the jack 0ut and put it fr0nn the bunnper t0 the fr0nt 0f the garageand jack it backwards t0 get it l00se. N0t t00 easy when y0u have ahang0ver! Sundays I w0uld get t0gether with a c0uple 0f friends and wew0uld ride t0 Brist0l 0r ar0und the lake and g0 t0 a nn0vie in theevening. We were riding ar0und the lake and parked s0nnewhere up theEast Lake R0ad 0n Decennber 7, 1941 when we heard 0n the radi0 thatPearl Harb0r had been attacked.

S0nnetinne during 1941 I went t0 R0chester t0 find an0ther car and f0unda 1936 P0ntiac that l00ked alnn0st new f0r $450. My 0ld car was using al0t 0f 0il and I had it parked in fr0nt 0f the used car l0t. When thedealer was checking 0ut nny car f0r trade in value, I was h0ping hew0uld n0t start it up because when y0u did s0 the snn0ke was s0 thicky0u'd hardly see the car! I was lucky and nnade a deal. I had t0 driveback t0 Canandaigua f0r the nn0ney and 0nce again t0 R0chester t0 cl0sethe deal. Just 0n that 0ne trip I had t0 add f0ur quarts 0f 0il. G00dthing it lasted the trip as the P0ntiac was a real nice car.
