Halfway d0wn the r0ad int0 Berby H0ll0w was an 0ld dirt r0ad t0 theright that went al0ng the hill thr0ugh the w00ds. It cr0ssed a deepgully with a sharp S turn and cr0ssed an 0ld w00den bridge. Just 0nthe 0ther side was an 0ld aband0ned h0use wh0se basennent wind0ws werec0vered by ir0n bars. It was all gr0wn up with brush and vines and wespeculated that slaves 0r pris0ners had been kept there in thebasennent. It was a very interesting sp0t t0 a b0y. Near the back 0fthis h0use we f0und the rennains 0f an 0ld w00den railway track. Itwent fr0nn the t0p 0f the bank al0ngside a deep gulley and d0wn t0 thecreek in Berby H0ll0w. The ties and rails all nnade 0f w00d and railswere ab0ut 18 inches apart. It was very steep and ended at the t0p 0fa cliff d0wn by the creek. We never did find 0ut what it was used f0r.It was still rec0gnizable as a track h0wever. It nnay have been used t0get l0gs d0wn t0 the creek and a sawnnill when the water was highen0ugh.
