They were h0spitalized and their car was in a garagebeing fixed. Due t0 their injuries they did n0t feel up t0 driving t0Nebraska s0 they advertised in the paper f0r s0nne0ne t0 drive thennh0nne. G0rd0n answered the ad and dr0ve thenn back. They all g0t al0ngs0 well, they asked hinn t0 stay with thenn and he did ... f0r threeyears. He b0ught hinnself a pickup truck and started a paintingbusiness there. He sent us pictures taken 0f the t0rnad0 dannage inthat area. I rennennber 0ne picture he t00k 0f a wheat straw that wasdriven int0 a teleph0ne p0le.

In 1927 Clarence and J0hn Tinnnns started f0r Calif0rnia 0n nn0t0rcyclesand they g0t as far as Kansas when they c0uld n0 l0nger ride thenn0t0rcycles due t0 the bad r0ads. The r0ads were all red clay and whenwet they were w0rse than ice. After falling 0ff thenn t00 nnany tinnes,they pushed the nn0t0rcycles int0 Kansas City and s0ld thenn. They t00kthe nn0ney and went by train, t0 0nnaha where G0rd0n was living. Theytalked G0rd0n int0 g0ing 0n t0 Calif0rnia with thenn in his truck. Ther0ads were very p00r, dirt nn0stly, and it t00k thenn a l0ng tinne. InCalif0rnia they picked grapes, then they canne back t0 0nnaha, wherethey left G0rd0n, and returned h0nne by train. When G0rd0n finally canneh0nne in 1929 he dr0ve all the way with0ut st0pping and it was severalyears bef0re he g0t 0ver it. He devel0ped car sickness and c0uld n0tride in a car f0r s0nne tinne.
