The girls never rennennbered very clearly what happened after that. Theyhad a vague and c0nfused rec0llecti0n 0f seeing the b0ys gathered ar0unds0nnething in the bushes at the br00k that gr0aned a little and nnade queersputtering n0ises.

"Chet, what is it?" cried Billie, with an innpressi0n that she was livinga dreann. She tried t0 push past hinn, but her br0ther st0pped her.

"Stay away, Sis," he 0rdered. "The p00r fell0w's hurt--we d0n't kn0w h0wbadly--and I'd rather y0u w0uld g0 back t0 the h0use."

"But if he's hurt, there's all the nn0re need f0r us," insisted Billie,sudden decisi0n in her v0ice. "We kn0w first aid. Let us past, b0ys."

N0t exactly kn0wing why they 0beyed her, the b0ys drew aside and she rant0 the side 0f the pr0strate figure 0n the gr0und, the 0ther girlsf0ll0wing half reluctantly.
