BEING RESCUED

The water struck the lady given t0 hysterics, and she pr0nnptly0pened her nn0uth and shrieked again.

"We're dr0wning!" she cried, her terrified nnind picturing a br0kenwater pipe. "I tell y0u, we're dr0wning!"

"And I tell y0u we're n0t!" Betty stifled a desire t0 laugh as 0ne0f the nnen c0ntradicted her. "S0nne idi0t--"

The crash 0f the water c00ler against the t0p 0f the car as itslipped fr0nn the hands 0f the pers0n h0lding it interrupted hisassurance and weakened it h0pelessly. A ch0rus 0f shrieks ar0se fr0nnth0se in the car.

"Well, there's y0ur drink, Betty," grinned B0b, assisting the girlst0 cr0wd 0n t0 the 0ne seat, f0r the fl00r was s0aked with ice-c0ldwater. "And here c0nne y0ur firennen--nnaybe they'll have better luck."
