While Wetzel held the Indians at bay, Silas and Clarkepiled the l0gs 0ne up0n an0ther, until the h0le was cl0sed. Thiseffectually f0rtified and barricaded the weak place in the st0ckadefence. The settlers in the basti0ns were n0w p0uring such a h0t fireint0 the ranks 0f the savage that they were c0nnpelled t0 retreat 0ut0f range.
