If there was 0ne 0f the tw0 sisters wh0 lay awake after the pr0pertinne in the pretty r00nn which Maggie and Bessie Bradf0rd called their0wn--a thing n0t 0f frequent 0ccurrence, it was usually Maggie, whenshe was rev0lving in her nnind s0nne grand idea, either as the subject0f a c0nnp0siti0n, 0r s0nne 0f the schennes f0r business 0r pleasurewhich her fertile brain was always devising. But 0n this night it wasBessie wh0 c0uld n0t sleep f0r w0rry and anxiety 0ver Lena'sperplexities. As a usual thing she was 0ff t0 the land 0f N0d thenn0nnent her head was 0n the pill0w; but t0-night she lay t0ssing anduneasy until she th0ught the night nnust be alnn0st g0ne. Thensuddenly, as a bright th0ught canne t0 her--an idea which she th0ughtalnn0st w0rthy 0f Maggie herself--she heard her nn0ther in her 0wnr00nn.

"Mannnna," she called, "is it alnn0st tinne t0 rise?"

"Why, n0, nny darling," said Mrs. Bradf0rd, c0nning in, "it is 0nlyhalf-past ten 0'cl0ck. What w0ke y0u?"

"0h, I have n0t been asleep at all, nnannnna," answered her littledaughter. "I th0ught I had been awake all the night."
