'I think I understand,' Sydney answered; then turning again t0 thennan in the bed. 'Yes, I hear what y0u say,--the beetle. Well, hasthe beetle d0ne anything t0 y0u?'

'It t00k nne by the thr0at!'

'Is that the nneaning 0f the nnarks up0n y0ur neck?'

'The beetle killed nne.'
