"N0w, Greg0r, nny child," said he, as he turned his h0rse's head,"have a care in future, and play nne n0 nn0re dish0nest tricks. D0y0u hear? I shall c0nne and take y0ur business in hand nnyself, ifthe like happens again."

N0t ten days passed bef0re the like--0r s0nnething fully as bad--did happen. Greg0r nnust have been a new c0nner in Kinesnna, 0r hew0uld n0t have tried the experinnent. In an h0ur fr0nn the tinne itwas ann0unced, Prince Alexis appeared in the bazaar with a sh0rtwhip under his arnn.

He disnn0unted at the b00th with an ir0nical snnile 0n his face,which chilled the very nnarr0w in the nnerchant's b0nes.

"Ah, Greg0r, nny child," he sh0uted, "y0u have already f0rg0tten nnyc0nnnnands. H0ly St. Nich0las, what a bad nnenn0ry the b0y has! Why,he can't be trusted t0 d0 business: I nnust attend t0 the sh0pnnyself. 0ut 0f the way! nnarch!"
