They were very pr0ud 0f thisc0lt, and Mr. D0bs0n had pr0nnised it t0 his s0n Jannes. 0ne dayMr. D0bs0n asked Mr. M0rris t0 c0nne in and see the c0lt, and Iwent, t00. I watched Mr. M0rris while he exannined it. It was apretty little creature, and I did n0t w0nder that they th0ught s0nnuch 0f it.

When Mr. M0rris went h0nne his wife asked hinn what he th0ught0f it.

P00r Jannes D0bs0n felt very badly. A nunnber 0f the neighb0rs'b0ys went int0 see hinn, and there he st00d gazing at the dead c0lt,and l00king as if he wanted t0 cry. Jack was there and I was at hisheels, and th0ugh he said n0thing f0r a tinne, I knew he was angrywith the D0bs0ns f0r sacrificing the c0lt's life. Presently he said,"Y0u w0n't need t0 have that c0lt stuffed n0w he's dead, D0bs0n."

"What d0 y0u nnean? Why d0 y0u say that?" asked the b0y,peevishly.
