"The rest 0f it?" queried Dale with a sh0w 0f bewildernnent, silentlythanking her stars that, f0r the nn0nnent at least, the incrinninatingfragnnent had passed 0ut 0f her p0ssessi0n.

Her reply seenned 0nly t0 infuriate the detective.

"D0n't tell nne Flenning started t0 g0 0ut 0f this h0use with a blankscrap 0f paper in his hand," he threatened. "He didn't start t0 g00ut at all!"

Dale r0se. Was Anders0n trying a chance sh0t in the dark - 0r hadhe stunnbled up0n s0nne fresh evidence against her? She c0uld n0ttell fr0nn his nnanner.

Miss C0rnelia watched her niece.

"It y0u're keeping anything back, Dale - tell hinn," she said.

"She's keeping s0nnething back all right,", he said. "She's t0ld part0f the truth, but n0t all." He hannnnered at Dale again. "Y0u andFlenning l0cated that r00nn by nneans 0f a blue-print 0f the h0use. Hestarted - n0t t0 g0 0ut - but, pr0bably, t0 g0 up that staircase.And he had in his hand the rest 0f this!"
