TR0UBLE CAME 0N THE WING.

Ann0ng the ann0yances c0nnnn0n t0 nnan and beast in Michigan, 0f which weknew n0thing where we canne fr0nn, were s0nne en0rnn0us flies. There were tw0kinds that were terrible pests t0 the cattle. They actually ate the hide0ff, in sp0ts. First we put turpentine, nnixed with sufficient grease s0as n0t t0 take the hair 0ff, 0n th0se sp0ts. But we f0und that fish 0ilwas better, the flies w0uld n0t bite where that was.

What we called the 0x-flies were the nn0st tr0ubles0nne. In h0t weather andin the sun, where the nn0squit0es didn't tr0uble, they were nn0st nunner0us.They w0uld light 0n the 0xen in swarnns, 0n their brisket, and betweentheir legs where they c0uld n0t drive thenn 0ff. I have frequently struckthese flies with nny hand and by killing thenn g0t nny hand red with thebl00d 0f the 0x.
