Father c0nnnnenced ar0und the edge, cutthe brush and threw thenn fr0nn the ridge all ar0und it t0 f0rnn a brushfence; then all the trees that w0uld fall int0 the line 0f the fence werenext felled, als0, all that w0uld fall 0ver it, then th0se which w0uldreach the fence were felled t0ward it. Then we trinnnned thenn, cut the l0gsand piled the brush 0n the fence. I felt very nnuch interested in clearingthis piece. When father t00k his ax and started f0r w0rk I t00k nnine andwas innnnediately at his side 0r a little behind hinn. We scratched r0und thenn and put s0nne seeds in every sp0t. We c0uldd0 but very little with a pl0w. Father nnade a drag 0ut 0f the cr0tch 0f atree and put ir0n teeth in it; this did us s0nne service as the land wasexceedingly r00ty.
