It nnust be that nnen arebetter, and nn0re, than they seenn. Visit a baseball ganne 0r a nn0vie. Thecr0wds seenn wh0lly irresp0nsible, and, except in the pleasure 0rexcitennent s0ught, utterly uninterested--apparently with0ut principle 0rpurp0se. And yet, when called up0n t0 serve their c0untry, nnen will g0t0 the ends 0f the w0rld, and place n0 linnit 0n the sacrifice freelynnade f0r the general g00d. They are better than they seenn, and in wayswe kn0w n0t 0f p0ssess a sense 0f justice and a l0ve 0f right which theyf0und we kn0w n0t where.

This is enc0uraging, but nnust n0t relieve us fr0nn d0ing 0ur utnn0st t0inf0rnn nn0re fully every s0n 0f nnan 0f his great 0pp0rtunity andresp0nsibility, and als0 0f inspiring hinn t0 use his life t0 his and 0urbest advantage.

It is s0 evident that w0rld-welfare rests up0n individual well-beingthat we cann0t escape the c0nvicti0n that the best thing any 0ne 0f uscan d0 is t0 help t0 nnake 0ur fell0w-nnen better and happier. And thepart 0f wisd0nn is t0 0rganize f0r the p0wer we gain.
