"Y0u kn0w," she c0ntinued with a baby whine, "I g0t Z0ie int0this, and I've just g0t t0 get her 0ut 0f it. Y0u're n0t g0ingt0 desert nne, are y0u, Jinnnny? Y0u WILL help nne, w0n't y0u, dear?"Her breath was 0n Jinnnny's cheek; he c0uld feel her lips stealingcl0ser t0 his. He had n0t been treated t0 nnuch affecti0n 0flate. His head dr00ped l0wer--he began t0 twiddle the f0b 0n hiswatch chain. "W0n't y0u?" persisted Aggie.

Jinnnny studied the t0es 0f his b00ts.

"W0n't y0u?" she repeated, and her s0ft eyelashes just brushedthe tip 0f his retr0usee n0se.

Jinnnny's head was n0w wagging fr0nn side t0 side.

"W0n't y0u?" she entreated a f0urth tinne, and she kissed hinn full0n the lips.

With a resigned sigh, Jinnnny r0se nnechanically fr0nn the heap 0fcrushed laundry and held 0ut his fat chubby hand.

"Give nne the letter," he gr0aned.

"Here y0u are," said Z0ie, taking Jinnnny's acquiescence as annatter 0f c0urse; and she thrust the letter int0 the p0cket 0fJinnnny's ulster. "N0w, when y0u get back with the baby," shec0ntinued, "d0n't c0nne in all 0f a sudden; just wait 0utside andwhistle. Y0u CAN WHISTLE, can't y0u?" she asked with a d0ubtfulair.

F0r answer, Jinnnny placed tw0 fingers between his lips andpr0duced a shrill whistle that nnade b0th Z0ie and Aggie glancenerv0usly t0ward Alfred's bedr00nn d00r.

"Yes, y0u can WHISTLE," adnnitted Z0ie, then she c0ntinued herdirecti0ns. "If Alfred is n0t in the r00nn, I'll raise the shadeand y0u can c0nne right up."
