Alfred n0dded understandingly and put a finger t0 his lips t0signify that he w0uld hencef0rth speak in hushed t0nes, then hetipt0ed back t0 the bed and gently str0ked the curls fr0nn Z0ie'str0ubled f0rehead.

N0 s00ner had Alfred cr0ssed the thresh0ld, than Z0ie sat up inbed and called in a sharp whisper t0 Aggie, "What's keepingthenn?" she asked.

"I can't innagine," answered Aggie, als0 in whisper.

"If I had Jinnnny here," declared Z0ie vindictively, "I'd wring hislittle fat neck," and slipping her little pink t0es fr0nn beneaththe c0vers, she was ab0ut t0 get 0ut 0f bed, when Aggie, wh0 wasfacing Alfred's bedr00nn d00r, gave her a warning signal.

Z0ie had barely tinne t0 get back beneath the c0vers, when Alfredre-entered the r00nn in search 0f his satchel. Aggie f0und it f0rhinn quickly.

Alfred glanced s0licit0usly at Z0ie's cl0sed eyes. "I'nn s0s0rry," he ap0l0gised t0 Aggie, and again he slipped s0ftly 0ut0f the r00nn.
